2023 Kia EV6 GT Family Review with Child Seat Installation

Last June, Kia delivered their most powerful performance EV of the time: the EV6 GT-Line AWD. We examined how that one would work on a road trip to one of our favorite vacation spots near us in Beaver's Bend State Park. Its range left us wanting just a bit more, but we never shared our thoughts on that one around our home turf.

Today we have the 2023 Kia EV6 GT model, the most powerful Kia yet. In this video, we examine what it is like living with this supercar-beating EV in Tyler Texas for our family of three.

The 2023 Kia EV6 GT is a car that blurs the line between a family vehicle and a supercar. With a whopping 576 horsepower and 545 lb.-ft. of torque, this all-wheel-drive vehicle can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. But can it really function as a family car?

First of all, let's talk about the interior. The EV6 GT has plenty of space for a family of four, with ample legroom and headroom in both the front and back seats. The racing bucket seats are comfortable and supportive but might be a bit too snug for larger adults. The dual 12.3-inch screens for gauges and infotainment are easy to read and offer a sleek, modern look.

In terms of technology, the EV6 GT has a lot to offer. The wide sunroof and LED headlights and taillights are both impressive features that add to the car's overall aesthetic. The smart cruise with stop & go is a convenient feature for long trips, allowing the car to automatically adjust its speed based on traffic conditions.

Now let's talk about range. With an EPA-estimated range of 206 miles, the EV6 GT might not be the best choice for long road trips without access to charging stations. However, it does have a DC ultra-fast charging system and a 10.9 kWh on-board charger, making it easy to top up the battery when needed. The battery pre-heating system and heat pump also ensure that the car is able to perform optimally in all weather conditions.

The EV6 GT's electronically controlled suspension and electronic rear limited slip differential make it a pleasure to drive, with sharp handling and precise steering. The regenerative brake level control paddles also allow for more control over the car's regenerative braking system.

Of course, the biggest downside of the EV6 GT is its price. Starting at $61,400 and costing $62,865 as-tested, this car is definitely a luxury purchase. However, if you're in the market for a high-performance EV and have the budget for it, the EV6 GT is definitely worth considering.

Overall, the 2023 Kia EV6 GT is a car that offers a unique combination of performance and practicality. While it might not be the most practical choice for families who frequently take long road trips, it's definitely a fun and exciting car to drive around town. If you're in the market for a high-performance EV and don't mind spending a bit more, the EV6 GT is definitely worth a test drive.
