Ram 1500 REV Concept at the Chicago Auto Show: Will We Ever See Something Like This?

Well, Ram spoiled this video by dropping the production version of their 2024 Ram 1500 REV electric pickup truck during their controversial Big Game commercial, but we still wanted to show you our video of the concept on which it is based.

Ram was on to something with its 18-foot covered storage thanks to front trunk with passthrough into the cabin and foldable midgate. They also introduced a unique seating concept with their 3rd-row jump seats, allowing for a total of 6 passengers in a unique configuration. Most 6-seat pickups achieve this through two rows of 3 seats, but Ram showed off their first-ever three-row pickup with this concept. Two jump seats fold down from the midgate allowing for additional seating. Thanks to the tracks in the floor, the 4 other seats are very positional and can adjust for the optimum arrangement for people and things.

Another interesting feature of this concept is the pillar-less design between the front and rear-hinged rear doors. This creates an absolutely massive opening that, when paired with the power deployable running boards, makes ingress and egress a breeze.

Inside there are sustainable materials, lots of glass which includes a windshield that translates into a full glass roof, and screens galore. Taking a play out of the Tesla playbook, there is no driver information screen behind the steering wheel, but rather a large collection of center screens that displays necessary information for the driver. Overhead there are additional screens in the form of a rearview camera mirror and roof-mounted controls. The screens do not stop there with a head-up display on the windshield and rearview side cameras in place of mirrors that display a wide field of view on A-pillar-mounted screens.

This concept is quite bonkers, as concepts should be, but the production spec is a little tamer, resembling a nice blend of the current gas-powered pickup with design elements from this concept. We will have to wait for further details on the production version, but it promises to be the best in the segment if their Big Game ad is to be believed.

This leads us to wonder if you are sad that this is not the version we will see on the road, or if you prefer the version we saw Sunday night. Sound off below.
