Is the 2024 Hyundai Palisade the Perfect Vehicle for a Texas-Sized Road Trip?

The 2024 Hyundai Palisade is the brand's largest vehicle sold stateside, and the sibling to the much-beloved Kia Telluride. Does it live up to the Kia's success, or is it bound to live in the shadows forever?

We had our XRT trimmed tester for a week which included a road trip from Eat Texas to Austin, and back as well as a full solar eclipse. What we found in that time was that this is a well-built, perfectly-sized three-row SUV/crossover that will fit in well with most families.

The XRT trim is eventually going to mean something as Hyundai is aiming for a true off-road-focused trim of their vehicles however, this one falls a bit short in that arena. I would classify this one as more of a dark appearance package than I would an off-road adventure-mobile.

The grille, wheels, and cladding are all blacked out for the XRT, lower rockers are large and chunky to provide a rugged look, roof rails compliment the adventure vibe the brand is aiming for, and that is about it. No additional ground clearance, no off-road tires, and no changes to the AWD system.

Inside, passengers are welcomed by comfy seating for 7 passengers, though the middle seat in the third row is a bit narrow. Front seats are heated only and all seats are wrapped in the brand's H-TEX synthetic leather seating material. No floor mats in this one, just carpet as far as you can see, luckily that too has been blacked out.

Power is supplied by a 3.8L V6. No turbos or forced induction. No gimmicks, just a tried-and-true honest-to-goodness V6 moving this vehicle via AWD.

Room inside was the big selling point for us. As a family of 3, we do not need a 3-row, but the idea appeals to us with all of our extended family nearby. There was enough room in the second row to install a rear-facing child safety seat without needing to move the front seat forward, a HUGE win in a parenting vehicle of choice. Sliding second-row seats meant that I could pull the kiddo closer to me if I felt compelled, or if third row passengers needed more space.

Find out more about how it fit our family by watching our tour and family review videos below.
