Making an Impression: Testing the 2022 Lexus LC 500 Convertible

There are a very precious few vehicles on the road capable of turning heads, like the vehicle Lexus brought to us this week for testing. This 2022 Lexus LC 500 Convertible is hands down the most beautiful vehicle that has ever resided in our garage.

Unveiled as a 2018 model and shown off to the world in the original Black Panther movie, the Lexus LC 500 was a beauty to behold with its LFA-like proportions and its glorious-sounding naturally aspirated V8 under the hood.

The Lexus LC is based on the LS sedan, but with much more flowing, elegant, and seductive body lines in the 2-door form. The long and wide hood, large wheels, and raked windshield make this a vehicle you want to be seen in.

That is made even easier with our convertible tester’s convertible soft top that drops in about 15 seconds. Completely handled electronically with the push of a single button, and at speeds up to 31 miles per hour, the convertible top’s operation exposes all four seats to the world, allowing those you drive by to look on with jealousy.

To make the coupe into a convertible, Lexus did more than just chop off the roof. Engineers went to work accounting for the change in mass, weight distribution, and structural rigidity. It all translates into a vehicle that is just as stunning as the coupe but with the open-air luxury of a convertible. Lexus even added heated neck warmers in the headrests to allow for top-down driving in cooler weather.

In a rather strange reversal of roles, in this 2022 Lexus LC 500 Convertible, it was Holli that was trying to convince Cory that this performance drop-top would make a great addition to the garage and would work well as a family vehicle. (Video coming 11-17-22)
