2023 Genesis G90: A Budget Rolls Royce that Won Car of the Year

Never have I ever been in such an exquisite vehicle that actually felt attainable. The fact that we are comparing this $100,000 Genesis to a much more expensive Rolls Royce that was also on the property speaks to how far the Genesis Brand has come.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Won Car of the Year award; writer encountered it at a press event alongside a Rolls Royce
  • Rear passenger lounge mode pushes the front seat forward and extends a leg rest for maximum comfort
  • Self-close door buttons keep passengers from reaching to close heavy doors
  • Mood Curator changes screen themes, plays calming music, and releases cabin scents
  • Starting at $88,400; tested at $101,295

Yes, I know $100,000 is a lot of money for a vehicle, between compared to some of the pickup trucks we have roaming the roads of East Texas, this G90 is a flat-out bargain. This G90 is winning awards and after spending a few minutes on a speed date of sorts with it, I can absolutely see why.

From the moment this large sedan shows up on the scene with its long hood, huge multi-faceted grille, big back doors with sloping window line, and this amazing pearl white matte paint, it commands attention.

Stepping inside to the front or rear seats is a special experience as all four outboard seats have heat, ventilation, and massage functions. The rear passenger side seat is the one to be in, however, as it has a lounge mode that pushes the front seat forward, pushes out a leg rest, and reclines the seat for a supremely comfortable experience.

All four doors also feature a self-close button that keeps passengers from bothering themselves with reaching out to close the doors. Inside, the driver can engage the “Mood Curator” that changes the themes of the screens, plays calming music, and even releases a scent into the cabin for a screen experience.

All in all, this was a fun few minutes with the ultimate in Korean-made luxury. We hope to get to spend more time with one back home in Texas. Stay tuned.
