Editorial Policy & Standards

GT: Garage Talk® is an independent, family-owned automotive publication operated by Fifteen58 Productions LLC. This page explains the standards behind everything we publish, including how we test vehicles, how we handle facts and corrections, and how we disclose the relationships that could represent a conflict of interest. Our goal is simple: give readers honest, useful information they can trust.

Editorial Independence

Our reviews and reporting reflect our own opinions and real-world experiences. No advertiser, sponsor, affiliate partner, or vehicle manufacturer has any influence over our editorial decisions, the conclusions of our reviews, or the recommendations we publish. Advertising and sponsorship are always kept separate from editorial content.

Human Review and Oversight

Every article, review, and video we publish is guided and reviewed by real members of our team who have personally driven or tested the vehicles and products we cover. We may use tools to help with an initial draft or with research, but all of our content is reviewed, fact-checked, edited, and approved by a real person before it is published. We do not publish anything that has not been checked and approved by a member of our team, and we do not outsource our work to people who are unfamiliar with our audience or the vehicles in question.

How We Test and Review

We review vehicles the way our readers actually use them. That means real driving in everyday conditions: commutes, road trips, car seat and cargo checks, family errands, and, where relevant, off-road and towing use. Manufacturers typically provide vehicles on loan for about a week so we can evaluate them firsthand before publishing.

Sourcing and Attribution

When our articles include facts, statistics, announcements, quotes, or other information from an outside source, we link directly to the original source that supports that information. When a claim comes from a manufacturer, we link to the manufacturer. When it comes from another outlet, an agency, a government body, or a study, we cite and link to that original source rather than relying on a manufacturer link alone.

Fact-Checking

Before publishing, we verify specifications, pricing, and factual claims against primary sources such as manufacturer pressrooms, official spec sheets, and reputable data providers. Vehicle pricing, features, and availability can change over time, and we aim to reflect the most accurate information available at the time of publication.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and transparently. If you spot a factual error in our work, email us at business@gtgaragetalk.com with the article title and the details of the correction. When we update an article to fix a material factual error, we note the correction within the article so readers know it was changed.

Conflicts of Interest

We believe in being upfront about any relationship that a reader might reasonably want to know about.

Vehicle manufacturers. To review new vehicles, manufacturers loan us press vehicles or cover travel to media drive programs. This is standard practice across automotive journalism. We are never paid to write a review, and no manufacturer is ever guaranteed positive coverage in exchange for a vehicle, a trip, or anything else.

Free products. We receive automotive products free of charge for testing. Receiving a product for review never guarantees a positive review or a mention.

Paid and affiliate relationships. Some of the companies whose products we feature compensate us through advertising, affiliate commissions, or per-sale arrangements. This can include affiliate links, where we may earn a commission when a reader buys a product through a link on our site; per-sale partnerships, where we earn a set amount for each unit sold; and flat-fee advertising, where a company pays a recurring fee to advertise with us. We disclose these arrangements so readers understand where a potential conflict could exist. None of them influence our editorial opinions, and we disclose any paid or affiliate relationship within the relevant content.

Advertising and Affiliate Links

Display advertising on GT: Garage Talk is served through our ad partner, The Publisher Desk. Some articles contain affiliate links, and we may earn a commission when you purchase through them, at no additional cost to you. Where an article contains affiliate links, an affiliate disclosure appears near the top of the article, before the first affiliate link. Any sponsored content or paid partnership is clearly labeled as such.

Images and Credits

Many of the vehicle and product images we publish come from manufacturer media and pressroom sites, which authorize automotive media and journalists to use these images for editorial coverage. GT: Garage Talk is authorized to use promotional images provided by or on behalf of vehicle manufacturers. We credit images to their source, and where we use our own photography, it is our original work.
