The 2027 Chevy Traverse High Country Looks Richer, But Did Chevy Go Far Enough?
Chevrolet is giving its premium three-row SUV a more distinct identity. The 2027 Chevy Traverse High Country gets new exterior details, a revised cabin, and camera technology that families may use every day.
The timing makes sense. Chevrolet says Traverse sales rose 20% during the second quarter of 2026. The SUV also recorded its best-ever first half after setting a sales record in 2025.
However, this is not a complete redesign. The turbocharged powertrain, huge touchscreen and family-ready dimensions remain familiar. Instead, Chevy focused on making High Country look richer and adding technology that solves a real parenting problem.
The 2027 Chevy Traverse High Country Gets a New Look
The biggest visual change is a redesigned High Country badge. Chevrolet places the new wordmark on the front doors and liftgate. The grille and headlamp accents also receive a Tritan Satin finish. New 22-inch high-gloss black wheels with machined faces complete the look.
I like the new badge itself, and its lower placement works well on the Traverse’s front doors. Still, the full wordmark feels a little busy. That is especially true on the next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado, where Chevy places it directly below the mirrors. On the truck, it looks more like an afterthought.
The Traverse wears it better. Its placement gives the SUV a premium detail without pulling too much attention away from the overall design.
The Cabin Is Premium, but It Needs More Contrast
Inside, Chevy uses Jet Black seats with Natural Tan accents. Natural Tan edging appears on the seatbelts, while the front headrests receive debossed High Country branding. Real wood trim adds another upscale touch.
The materials look nice, but the cabin is too dark for my taste. High Country once stood out because of its rich dark-brown leather. Black upholstery with a few tan accents does not create enough contrast to recapture that character.
I believe buyers expect the High Country trim to feel special. A premium badge and real wood help, but color can change the entire mood of a cabin. A warmer, more distinctive leather option would better separate this Traverse from less expensive trims, which also use black in abundance.
There is also one feature I still want Chevy to address. We tested a Traverse High Country and were surprised that it lacked a head-up display. You can watch our Traverse High Country video to see what stood out during that test. At this price and trim level, a HUD feels like a natural fit.
Cabin Glance Is the Update Families Will Actually Use
The most useful update is not a badge or a new set of wheels. It is Cabin Glance, an interior camera that shows the second and third rows on the center screen.
The camera comes standard on High Country and RS. Chevrolet will also offer it on every 2027 Traverse trim. That wide availability is good news for parents, pet owners and anyone carrying passengers across three rows.
We recently spent 16 days and 3,000 miles in a 2027 Chrysler Pacifica and loved its FamCAM system. It let us check on Tucker without turning around. Once you live with that kind of feature on a long trip, it stops feeling like a gimmick.
The Traverse’s standard 17.7-inch infotainment screen should give Cabin Glance plenty of room to work. In everyday family use, this may be the update owners appreciate most.
Chevrolet also adds Surround Vision Recorder and Security Recording. With a USB drive connected, owners can save footage from the exterior cameras. Security Recording can begin when the vehicle’s alarm activates. These features could help document a road incident or parking-lot damage.
The High Country Formula Is Spreading to Silverado
Chevrolet says the Traverse is only the beginning for this new High Country identity. The same Tritan Satin grille treatment and revised branding are also coming to the 2027 Silverado High Country.
The SUV still uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. Buyers also get up to 98 cubic feet of cargo space with both rear rows folded.
Available Super Cruise adds hands-free driving on compatible roads. Meanwhile, more than 20 standard safety and driver-assistance features support the Traverse’s family focus.
Overall, this is a nice update to Chevrolet’s premium trim. The physical badge works better on the Traverse than it does on the Silverado, and the interior gains welcome detail. I still want more color contrast and an available head-up display. However, Cabin Glance is exactly the kind of practical technology that can make a family SUV easier to live with.
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Traverse High Country begins in September at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant.
