2027 Hyundai Tucson Revealed With a Bold, Boxy New Look

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is here, sort of, and it looks nothing like the SUV it replaces. If you spend time on car sites or social media, you may have seen this online already. The photos are everywhere, and for good reason. Hyundai gave its best selling SUV a clean-sheet redesign, and the result is bold, boxy, and hard to miss. Both Car and Driver and Motor1, among others, have shared the story. Allow us to break down what actually changed.
A Bold New Look for the 2027 Hyundai Tucson

First, the styling. Hyundai leaned into a squared off, upright shape that it calls its “Art of Steel” design language. Instead of the soft curves we know today, the new Tucson goes angular and rugged. Up front and around back, an illuminated H motif ties the whole look together. In fact, the lighting is so symmetrical that the headlights and taillights almost look interchangeable. It is a big swing, and it makes the outgoing model feel dated overnight.
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson Grows in Every Direction

This SUV did not just change its clothes. It grew, too. According to Motor1, the new Tucson stretches about 185 inches long, which adds roughly 2.3 inches. It is also wider by about 1.57 inches and taller by nearly an inch. The wheelbase grows by 1.1 inches as well, so there is more room between the wheels.
That extra size pays off inside. Hyundai says rear passengers get about 1.1 inches more headroom. Plus, the rear doors now open wider, all the way to 83 degrees. If you load kids or car seats every day, that wider opening is a small change that matters a lot.
Inside the Cabin: A Huge 17-Inch Screen

Open the door and the cabin looks completely new. A slim driver display sits high on the dash, while a large touchscreen anchors the center. Reports point to a roughly 17-inch display running Hyundai’s new Pleos infotainment software. Thankfully, Hyundai kept physical buttons below the screen, so you are not forced to tap through menus for simple tasks.
The rest of the space feels more upscale, too. Think perforated upholstery, wood style trim, and ambient lighting. Overall, it reads less like an economy crossover and more like a premium family hauler.
What Powers the New Tucson?

Here is the part everyone wants to know, and here is the honest answer. Hyundai has not released official engine or horsepower numbers yet. However, the current Tucson offers gas and hybrid options, and the hybrid is a strong seller. So we fully expect Hyundai to bring efficient hybrid power back for this generation. As soon as the company confirms the details, we will pass them along.
XRT and N Line Trims Return

Good news for fans of the sportier and more rugged looks. Hyundai confirmed a rugged XRT trim for the new Tucson. Meanwhile, the sporty N Line version is widely expected to return as well. That means buyers should get a familiar spread, from trail ready styling to a sharper street look.
When Can You Buy the 2027 Hyundai Tucson?

For now, timing is the big open question. Hyundai plans to launch the redesigned Tucson in Korea later in 2026, with a global rollout to follow. Pricing has not been announced, either. Still, given how important this model is in the United States, an American on-sale date should not be far behind. We will update you the moment those numbers land.
