Bentley Torcal EV Packs 876 HP and 375 Miles of Range
Bentley has finally gone electric, and it did not start small. The all-new Bentley Torcal is a low-slung luxury SUV with as much as 876 horsepower, five-passenger seating, and a claimed 375 miles of range. It also becomes the fourth model line in Bentley’s modern lineup.
Those headline numbers make the Torcal sound like another electric super-SUV. However, the details suggest Bentley focused just as much on the everyday experience. There is a roomy rear bench, useful cargo space, physical controls and technology designed to take stress out of tight roads and parking lots.
For families dreaming about what the next generation of luxury SUVs could look like, this one is worth a closer look.
What Is the Bentley Torcal?
The Bentley Torcal is the company’s first fully electric production vehicle. It was designed, engineered and built in Crewe, England. Bentley says it will launch in two forms: a core Torcal and a quicker Torcal S.
At roughly five meters long, or about 197 inches, the Torcal is not compact. Still, it is the shortest four-door model in Bentley’s lineup. Its long wheelbase, short overhangs and tapered cabin give it a planted stance without simply copying the taller Bentayga.
The styling also previews Bentley’s next chapter. An illuminated diamond grille, powerful rear haunches and a cleaner body shape replace some of the visual fuss found on many new luxury vehicles. A redesigned Bentley emblem finishes the look.
Bentley Torcal Performance Is Supercar Quick
The standard Torcal produces 821 PS, or about 810 horsepower, and 881 lb-ft of torque. Bentley says it can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and continue to 155 mph.
The Torcal S turns the wick up to 888 PS, which converts to about 876 horsepower. Torque rises to 996 lb-ft with launch control. As a result, the S can sprint from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds and reach 162 mph.
Those figures are wild for a five-seat SUV. Yet Bentley says it deliberately stopped short of chasing even more brutal acceleration. The goal was effortless, repeatable speed instead of a launch that makes passengers regret getting in.
Two electric motors provide all-wheel drive. Fully active suspension, adaptive dampers and standard rear-wheel steering aim to give the Torcal a broad range of abilities. Bentley even claims it can combine Flying Spur comfort with Continental GT Speed agility. We will reserve judgment until we drive one, but the hardware is serious.
Range and Charging Make the Pitch Credible
A 113-kWh usable battery gives the Bentley Torcal up to 375 miles of range on the European WLTP cycle. An EPA estimate has not been announced, so U.S. shoppers should expect a different final number.
The 800-volt electrical system can accept up to 400 kW at a compatible DC fast charger. Bentley says a 10-to-80-percent charge can take as little as 16 minutes under ideal conditions. About 100 miles can be added in seven minutes.
That charging peak is impressive. Still, finding a 400-kW charger and holding the battery at its ideal temperature will matter in the real world. The battery is backed by a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, which adds welcome long-term reassurance.
Where the Bentley Torcal Fits Family Life
The practical numbers may be more meaningful than the acceleration time. The rear bench seats three and power-folds for the first time in a Bentley. Cargo capacity measures 460 liters behind the rear seats, while a 90-liter front trunk adds space for charging cables or smaller bags.
A tight 36.4-foot turning circle should help in school parking lots and crowded downtown garages. The Torcal can also remember parking maneuvers, park remotely and protect its wheels during parallel parking. On a narrow road, it can retrace its path in reverse to create room for an oncoming vehicle.
Four power-operated doors add another clever touch. A passenger can trigger a door to close by fastening a seat belt. The driver can close their door by pressing the brake pedal. That sounds small, but it could feel wonderfully convenient when hands are full.
Bentley has not yet shared child-seat attachment details, towing capacity or payload. Those answers will ultimately tell us how well this glamorous SUV handles the less glamorous parts of family duty.
A Luxury Cabin That Still Has Real Buttons
Inside, Bentley mixes curved OLED screens with physical controls on the center console and steering wheel. That balance matters. Common functions should not require digging through menus while the vehicle is moving.
Standard front seats offer 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage. An available Wellness Seat package can massage the seat cushion as well as the backrest. The cabin also offers a switchable-glass roof, augmented-reality head-up display and facial recognition for loading driver preferences.
Material choices move beyond traditional leather and glossy wood. Bentley developed a certified 100-percent Merino wool automotive fabric and a layered walnut finish made with offcuts and recycled paper. Buyers can still choose familiar veneers, leather and metal trim.
Even the electric soundtrack takes a different approach. Musicians used drums, viola and bass guitar to create a pulse inspired by Bentley’s classic 6¾-liter V8. Drivers can increase the sound in Sport mode or switch it off completely.

What Bentley Has Not Told Us Yet
Bentley has not announced pricing, U.S. availability or an EPA range estimate. We also do not know the final curb weight. None of those omissions dull the debut, but they will shape the Torcal’s real-world appeal.
On paper, the Bentley Torcal avoids the trap of treating electrification as the entire story. It is fast, but it also appears comfortable, useful and thoughtfully designed. That combination could make it one of the most complete electric luxury SUVs yet.
