Meet the 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee: 600 Horsepower of Twin-Turbo Fury
Dodge just woke up the hive. The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition arrives with 600 horsepower, and that number alone makes it the quickest, fastest, and most powerful Super Bee the brand has ever built. Even better, it lands right in the middle of the Charger’s 60th anniversary. Below, we break down what makes this Bee sting.
Dodge Charger Super Bee: 600 Horsepower From a Twin-Turbo Six
At the center of it all sits a Super Bee-exclusive version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo SIXPACK engine, better known as the Hurricane inline-six. Thanks to larger 56mm Garrett turbochargers, it now makes 600 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. That works out to 200 horsepower per liter, which Dodge says makes this the most power-dense muscle car ever.
The numbers on the strip back that up. The Dodge Charger Super Bee hits 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, and it runs the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds. As a result, it comfortably outruns the 550-horsepower Scat Pack. It also crushes the 2023 V8-powered Super Bee, trimming nearly a second off the old car’s 0-60 time.
Track Hardware Built to Punish Corners
Straight-line speed is only half the story here. For the first time on a SIXPACK Charger, massive 16-inch Brembo rotors sit at all four corners. Six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers clamp down hard, and Dodge claims three times the fade resistance of any other SIXPACK Charger.
Grip gets a serious upgrade too. Every Super Bee rides on 20-by-11-inch forged wheels wrapped in sticky Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires. In addition, new adaptive dampers, stiffer bushings, and firmer springs sharpen turn-in. There is even a dedicated rear-wheel-drive mode for old-school, tail-out fun.
Cooling and Aero That Survive a Track Day
All that power creates heat, so Dodge rethought the entire cooling system. The Super Bee boosts cooling capacity by more than 50%, and it adds auxiliary radiators in the front corners. Because of that, the car can attack lap after lap without wilting.
The aero does double duty. A new high-flow front fascia feeds 30% more air to the radiators. Meanwhile, an extended splitter and a larger rear spoiler add more than 100 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. In short, the Super Bee looks meaner because it truly needs to be.
Track Toys, Drag Mode, and a Built-In Cosworth Recorder
Dodge also loaded the Super Bee with fresh performance tech. New Track and Drag modes arrive for the first time on the SIXPACK Charger. On top of that, a steering-wheel RWD button, Torque Reserve, and Race Prep help drivers launch harder and stay consistent between runs.
The coolest party trick might be the Drive Experience Recorder by Cosworth. This system captures 1080p video at 60 frames per second, and it syncs that footage with live vehicle data. Later, drivers can export everything to the AliveDrive app to study laps and chase faster times.
Launch Edition Looks, Inside and Out
The Launch Edition dresses the part. Buyers can choose the new Sucker Punch and Shady colors, or classic Diamond Black. Each one wears gloss-black “Stinger” graphics, gloss-black wheels, and eye-popping Hyper Lime brake calipers. On top of that, a reimagined Super Bee logo, inspired by a turbocharger spool, ties the whole theme together.
Inside, the story continues. The Super Bee features the first cloth high-back performance seats in the modern Charger, complete with an embroidered Bee logo on the headrests. In addition, Sour Lemon stitching, a Citrus Peel steering-wheel marker, and a dedicated instrument-panel badge finish off the cabin.
Our Take: Great Engine, Wrong Badge
Here is where I will be honest with you. I really like the Hurricane inline-six. The twin-turbo SIXPACK is a genuinely impressive piece of engineering, and 600 horsepower from three liters is remarkable. I am also a dyed-in-the-wool V8 guy, so believe me when I say this engine has earned my respect on merit.
Still, respect and fit are two different things. For the past couple of decades, Dodge has cultivated a very specific brand persona: loud, brash, V8-powered American muscle that never apologizes. The Hurricane, as good as it is, does not quite match that identity. To me, it feels engineered where the Dodge attitude has always felt gloriously unhinged.
I’m literally writing this story while wearing a Dodge Charger shirt that was given to me when we covered Mopar Heaven at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year. At that event, Dodge was there giving thrill rides in the Hurricane-powered Chargers while surrounded by a sea of modified (and loud) HEMI-powered vehicles. The crowd seemed more interested in the swaths of V8s than the more powerful and sophisticated inline engine with only six cylinders.
So here is my pitch to Stellantis. If it truly wants to show off what the Hurricane engine can do, bring back the Chrysler 300. That car was born for a refined, powerful, twin-turbo six. A 300 with this 600-horsepower SIXPACK would be a modern luxury-performance sedan that actually suits the engine’s character. Better yet, it would let the Charger stay true to the V8 spirit that built the brand. Honestly, everyone wins.
