Shelby’s F-150 Super Snake Bares Its Fangs At Ram Rumble Bee, Limited To 600 Examples
Ram made a splash when it not only brought back the Hellcat-powered RAM 1500 TRX but also introduced the Rumble Bee lineup, and even partnered with Roush Performance to create the all-new Ram 1500 Direct Connection. This performance triple play gave Ram a noticeable shot in the arm when it came to offering a performance truck for every buyer segment. GT: Garage Talk even had the chance to sample the TRX recently to see if it still had its performance swagger (spoiler alert it was fun.)
Not wanting to be left out, Shelby American has decided to strike back with the aftermarket tuning firm unveiling an updated version of the Shelby F-150 Super Snake which brings more power, some new tricks, and a whole lot of newfound attitude to the fight as it attempts to one-up Ram.
A New Set Of Fangs Makes This Super Snake Better Than Ever
A key tool in the fight against the TRX is a new set of fangs, and this Super Snake packs the goods with the truck getting its motivation from an upgraded version of Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Shelby bolts on a Stage 2 supercharger on top but while this core setup hasn’t changed from last year, Shelby made some revisions to the engine, and the Super Snake now produces 810 horsepower. That’s a slight bump up from the 775 horsepower the old model had, and is just enough to outshine the TRX’s 777 horsepower 6.2-liter Hellcat V8.
In addition to the supercharger, Shelby also equipped the truck with other upgrades, including a performance air intake, high flow air filter, an aluminum heat exchanger, carbon fiber intake tube, and a rumbly Borla exhaust system to help produce a distinct soundtrack when cruising through town.
The whole setup here allows the Super Snake to be a unique presence out on the street, and while Shelby American didn’t release any performance numbers for the updated Super Snake, look for the exta power to help it get a leg up over the TRX, or any other muscle truck that challenges it out on the track.
This Snake Can Shake, Rattle, and Roll
With all of the upgrades the Shelby F-150 Super Snake got under the hood for 2026, it can be easy to forget that this truck can also handle itself very well when asked to do so in twistier sections of tarmac. This is due to an upgraded suspension system that features KING adjustable coilovers, a Shelby tuned adjustable suspension that has been lowered from stock, sticky Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and rear performance traction bars.’
These upgrades should help make the truck an impressive dance partner out on the track, and they could also allow it to hang with the supercharged version of the Rumble Bee if the two get into a duel out on the track. Shelby has also not forgotten about the art of stopping either, and has equipped the truck with Baer drilled and slotted disc brakes to help bring the fun to a safe and controlled stop when its time to negotiate a sharp turn or stop for a redlight.
Shelby’s Most Potent Reptile Has Humble Origins
The 2026 Shelby F-150 Super Snake starts life as a Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew and it inherits the high level of standard equipment that comes on Lariat grade trucks including a 12-inch infotainment system, heated and ventilated seats, a 360-degree view camera system, and a full suite of driver assistance technologies.
The Super Snake takes this proven foundation and amps it up a few notches. The exterior gets several visual upgrades including a dual-intake ram-air hood, a body kit with beefed up ground effects, a painted grille, racing stripes, 22-inch wheels, and a body-colored tonneau cover. Buyers will be able to choose from 10 different colors: Ruby Red, Antimatter Blue, Argon Blue, Agate Black, Avalanche Gray, Marsh Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Star White Metallic, Iconic Silver, and Oxford White. As expected from a Shelby product, there’s plenty of exterior badging too.
The interior also gets in on the act, and the seats get top-grain leather upholstery with the Shelby name stitched into the seatbacks. The cabin also gets splashes of carbon fiber trim, billet racing pedals, and embroidered floor mats to drive home the theme even more. Look for passengers in both rows of seas to have plenty of room to stretch out too thanks to the carryover SuperCrew layout.
Rarity Will Define Super Snake Production
Buyers looking to add a Shelby F-150 Super Snake to their garage will have to be prepared to pay accordingly for the privilege. Shelby American says that a base Super Snake will start at $140,795, which includes the price of the F-150 Lariat donor truck. In exchange, owners will get a three-year/36,000 mile limited warranty.
In addition to the high price tag, the Super Snake will also be an extremely rare serpent out on the road with Shelby planning to only build 600 of these super trucks before it ceases production. The rarity factor makes the Super Snake a viable play in the performance truck market, but it’s important to note Ram has not released final pricing for the Rumble Bee as of this writing.
Unlike the Super Snake, The Rumble Bee will not have a limited production run when it makes its way to dealerships, and this might please some customers who want to have more time to think things over before they sign on the proverbial dotted line. On the other hand, bragging rights are a big part of the street truck experience, and the Shelby’s unique mixture of rarity, attitude, and performance might be enough to win some enthusiasts over, including those who want to take their kids to school in style.
