Toyota and Lexus September Sales Climb 8.4% as Electrified Models Top 58%

Toyota and Lexus had a strong finish to the third quarter. Toyota Motor North America reported September U.S. sales of 201,306 vehicles, up 8.4% on a volume basis and up 4% on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis compared with September 2025.
The real headline is electrification. Hybrids and other electrified models made up 58.2% of everything Toyota and Lexus sold in September.
September Sales Up 8.4%

The Toyota division sold 171,469 vehicles in September, up 7.9%. Lexus grew even faster, with September sales of 29,837, up 11.4%.
“Our third-quarter results reinforce a simple truth: customers want choices,” said Andrew Gilleland, senior vice president of the Automotive Operations Group at Toyota Motor North America.
Electrified Vehicles Make Up More Than Half of Sales

Toyota Motor North America sold 117,215 electrified vehicles in September, up 37.8%. For the third quarter, electrified sales totaled 363,367, up 28.5% and representing 57.4% of total volume.
Toyota’s division alone sold 325,227 electrified vehicles in the third quarter, up 29.2%. That steady growth in hybrids is a trend we have tracked all year, including in our look at Toyota’s second-quarter hybrid sales.
Third Quarter Holds Steady

For the full quarter, Toyota Motor North America sold 633,223 vehicles, up 0.6% compared with the third quarter of 2025. The Toyota division sold 540,167 vehicles in the quarter, up 0.5%.
Toyota also says it continues to run among the lowest incentives of any full-line automaker, which suggests demand remains healthy without heavy discounting.
Lexus Grows Faster Than Toyota

Lexus posted third-quarter sales of 93,056 vehicles, up 1.6%. Its electrified sales rose 23.1% for the quarter to 38,140, and September electrified sales jumped 47.4% to 13,110.
What Comes Next

Toyota and Lexus currently offer 32 electrified vehicles across the two brands, and the lineup keeps growing. Toyota also just added a new hybrid-only 2027 Grand Highlander Woodland Edition to its three-row lineup.
