The first look told us GMC was serious. Now the full numbers are here, and the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 is more than a fresh grille with bigger screens. It brings two new V8s, an upgraded base engine, a long-awaited 34-gallon fuel tank and a clearer six-trim lineup.

Better yet, the changes focus on the things owners will notice after the new-truck smell fades. There is more towing muscle, more room for gear, smarter trailering tools and fewer fuel stops. Prices start at $51,295 for a four-wheel-drive Crew Cab Pro and climb to $87,895 for Denali Ultimate. Both figures include GMC’s $2,795 destination charge.

We covered the big ideas in our 2027 Sierra first look. Now, GMC has filled in the blanks. Here is what matters before these trucks reach dealers late in 2026.

2027 GMC Sierra 1500: The Short Version

  • Four engines are available, and every one uses a 10-speed automatic.
  • The new 5.7-liter V8 makes 402 horsepower and can tow up to 13,500 pounds.
  • The new 6.6-liter V8 makes 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque.
  • An available 34-gallon tank works with both V8s and the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel.
  • The diesel can deliver more than 900 miles of GM-estimated highway range.
  • A 16.3-inch touchscreen is standard, while an 11.5-inch passenger screen is available.
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto stay, alongside Google built-in.
  • Super Cruise is standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate.
  • GMC expects the first trucks at dealerships before the end of 2026.

Four Engines, but the 5.7-Liter V8 Is the Towing Hero

GMC gives Sierra shoppers four familiar choices with very different personalities. The base 2.7-liter Enhanced TurboMax gets a useful bump to 350 horsepower and 455 lb-ft. That is 40 more horsepower and 25 more lb-ft than before. It also offers the highest maximum payload in the lineup at 2,310 pounds.

The new 5.7-liter V8 looks like the sweet spot. It produces 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft, yet its biggest number is 13,500 pounds. That maximum tow rating comes from a properly equipped 4WD Double Cab with the Max Trailering Package. A Crew Cab tops out at 13,300 pounds.

Meanwhile, the 6.6-liter V8 is the power play. Its 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft make it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the class, according to GMC. However, it is not the towing champion. GMC rates it at 9,400 pounds in the listed Crew Cab configuration.

The 3.0-liter Duramax returns with 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft. It can tow up to 12,100 pounds with the right 4WD Crew Cab setup. In short, diesel buyers still get effortless torque and outstanding range, while the 5.7-liter takes the towing crown.

Maximum figures require specific configurations and equipment. Passenger, cargo and accessory weight can reduce capacity.

Every engine now pairs with a 10-speed automatic. If you want the engineering story behind the gas engines, our deep dive into GM’s sixth-generation Small Block V8s explains what changed and why it matters.

The 34-Gallon Fuel Tank Fixes a Real Road-Trip Problem

Yes, GMC finally published the fuel-tank chart. Regular Cab trucks can get an approximately 28-gallon tank. Double Cab and Crew Cab models can get an approximately 34-gallon tank. GMC says the larger tank is available with the two V8s and the Duramax.

That extra capacity matters more than it sounds. The current 24-gallon tank can force frequent stops when a trailer cuts fuel economy. By comparison, 34 gallons gives drivers more freedom to choose where they stop instead of grabbing the first station near the highway.

The Duramax shows the biggest upside. GMC estimates more than 900 miles of highway range when the diesel is paired with the large tank. Real-world range will vary, of course. Weather, speed, passengers, cargo and a trailer can all change the result.

Still, the new capacity moves GM ahead of Ram and Toyota, though Ford still offers a 36-gallon tank. We compared every rival and explained the towing-range math in our story on the 2027 Silverado and Sierra 34-gallon tank.

The Cabin Now Does More Than a Luxury SUV

The 16.3-inch center touchscreen is standard across the lineup. It works with a 12.2-inch driver display and GM’s new interface. The home screen can keep navigation beside media, fuel economy or trailer information, so drivers do not need to jump between menus.

Most importantly, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain part of the package. Google Maps, Google Gemini and apps from Google Play also run natively. Owners can use the system they prefer instead of being forced into one ecosystem.

Higher trims add an 11.5-inch passenger display with a cover and polarized technology. It keeps video visible to the passenger but out of the driver’s view. There are also up to six USB ports, dual MagSafe charging pads, a 120-volt console outlet and available 5G connectivity.

The camera system offers up to 19 views. Cabin Glance can help a driver check the rear seating area without turning around. Hitch View makes lining up a trailer easier. Front and rear underbody cameras help on tight trails, and their built-in washer should help when the path gets muddy.

Then there is Super Cruise. It comes standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate, with three years of the OnStar One plan. It is also available on Elevation. The system can operate hands-free on compatible roads and supports trailering, although some lane-change functions are unavailable while towing.

Six Trims Cover Work, Weekends and Serious Luxury

Pro is not a bare-bones truck. It includes the 16.3-inch screen, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, a trailer brake controller and the Enhanced TurboMax. Buyers can also add the 5.7-liter V8 or Duramax.

Elevation may be the practical middle ground. It adds bucket seats, the MultiPro tailgate, a sliding rear window, dual wireless chargers and a center console that becomes a work surface. It can also be ordered with Super Cruise, a panoramic roof and the 34-gallon tank.

AT4 brings a two-inch lift, 34-inch all-terrain tires and the 5.7-liter V8. It also includes ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, Bose audio and Super Cruise. The Duramax remains optional.

AT4X is the off-road flagship. It gets 35-inch mud-terrain tires, front and rear locking differentials, Multimatic dampers and a new Baja drive mode. The Duramax and 34-gallon tank are standard, while the 6.6-liter V8 is optional. An AEV Edition will follow later.

Denali leans into comfort with adaptive suspension, real wood trim and a quieter luxury-truck look. The 5.7-liter V8 and Super Cruise are standard. Buyers can step up to the 6.6-liter or choose the Duramax.

Denali Ultimate puts the 6.6-liter V8 and 34-gallon tank on the standard list. It also includes massaging front seats, 16-speaker Bose audio, a passenger screen and more than 60 inches of combined displays.

2027 GMC Sierra 1500 Pricing

GMC’s first price chart covers 4WD Crew Cab models and includes the $2,795 destination charge. Other cabs, beds and drivetrains will change the final number. For comparison, Chevrolet has already published a broader 2027 Silverado pricing breakdown, and its lower trims may appeal to shoppers who want the new hardware without GMC’s premium positioning.

TrimStarting MSRPWhat stands out
Pro$51,295Big screens, adaptive cruise and trailering basics
Elevation$59,995Everyday comfort, MultiPro gear and broad options
AT4$73,495Two-inch lift, 34-inch tires and Super Cruise
Denali$76,795Luxury cabin and adaptive suspension
AT4X$85,49535-inch tires, two lockers and Baja mode
Denali Ultimate$87,8956.6L V8, massage seats and every major screen

Starting MSRPs are for 4WD Crew Cab models and include GMC’s $2,795 destination charge.

The gap between AT4X and Denali Ultimate is only $2,400. Therefore, top-end shoppers are choosing a mission more than a price. AT4X is the trail tool. Denali Ultimate is the highway lounge.

The Details That Will Matter After the Test Drive

GMC did not forget the everyday truck features. The bed offers 16 standard tie-down locations and what GMC calls best-in-class cargo volume. The updated MultiPro tailgate adds four tie-downs and an integrated ruler. Meanwhile, the Crew Cab offers best-in-class standard front headroom and legroom.

Safety equipment also gets stronger. GMC lists 12 new standard safety features. Highlights include intersection automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, pedestrian and bicyclist alerts, and a Safety Alert Seat.

However, buyers should read the configuration sheet carefully. Maximum towing and payload never apply to every version of a truck. The same is true for the 34-gallon tank. GMC has confirmed where it is available, but engine, cab, bed and package choices still determine what a specific truck can do.

The Bottom Line

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 does not chase one headline. Instead, it fixes several daily frustrations at once. The 5.7-liter V8 carries the towing load. The 34-gallon tank stretches the distance between stops. The new cabin keeps phone mirroring while adding better trailering tools. Even the Pro gets the huge center screen and a real safety package.

Pricing confirms that GMC still wants to be the premium side of GM’s truck family. Yet Elevation looks like the smart all-rounder, AT4 is the road-trip-and-trail choice, and the two flagships now have clearly different jobs.

The full specification sheet is finally here. Next comes the part that matters most: driving one with passengers, cargo and a trailer to see whether those impressive numbers make life easier.
