The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is officially on sale, and the first examples begin reaching dealerships next week. Nissan is leading with the well-equipped SR with SR Technology Package, while the rest of the lineup follows in early 2027.

It also arrives with final EPA numbers of up to 41 MPG city, 36 MPG highway, and 38 MPG combined. On top of that, Nissan is spotlighting three features it says make this the most refined Rogue yet: a hushed cabin, a clever Smooth Stop function, and a smarter version of ProPILOT Assist.

Which Rogue Hybrid Arrives First

If you have been following along since we first broke down how the Rogue Hybrid works, the wait is nearly over. The launch model is the SR with all-wheel drive (AWD) and the SR Technology Package, which loads in a lot of the good stuff right away:

  • 14.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in
  • 14.3-inch digital dashboard display
  • ProPILOT Assist with Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support
  • 3D Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor with Invisible Hood View and Front Wide View
  • Front and rear parking sensors plus Rear Automatic Braking
  • Panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel, and memory driver seat

Meanwhile, the SV, SR, and Platinum trims are expected in January 2027. If you would rather see one in person first, the Rogue Hybrid makes its public show debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs Nov. 20 through 29.

EPA Ratings Are In: Up to 38 MPG Combined

Back in September, Nissan was still quoting internal fuel economy targets. Now the official numbers are in, and the city rating even ticked up by 1 MPG. Here is how the lineup shakes out, based on the EPA rating for the SR and Nissan’s updated spec sheet for the other trims:

  • SR: 41 MPG city, 36 MPG highway, 38 MPG combined
  • SV and Platinum: 41 MPG city, 35 MPG highway, 37 MPG combined

Those numbers come from Nissan’s e-POWER system, which was recently named to the 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list. Unlike a conventional hybrid, the 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine never drives the wheels. Instead, it only generates electricity for front and rear electric motors, which combine for 225 horsepower and standard AWD.

As a result, Nissan calls the Rogue Hybrid the only hybrid in its class with a 100% electric drivetrain, and it claims class-best acceleration and stopping from 60 MPH. Best of all, there is no plug. You simply fill the 14-gallon tank with regular unleaded and go. Hybrid demand keeps climbing, too, as our look at third-quarter hybrid sales showed.

A Cabin Built for Quiet Conversations

Nissan engineers made a quiet cabin one of their top priorities. For example, they placed sound-deadening material in noisy spots like the wheel wells, and they shaped the body to cut wind noise with concealed wipers, door-mounted side mirrors, and slim roof rails. Even the available ventilated front seats use a new design that runs more quietly.

“It’s easy to have a normal conversation with passengers in both rows, even on the interstate,” said Derek Johnson, a research and development engineer at Nissan Technical Center North America. Add Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats and more front headroom than any hybrid in its class, and the Rogue Hybrid looks like a comfortable road trip companion.

Smooth Stop Brings Limo-Style Braking

Professional chauffeurs learn the “limo stop,” gently easing off the brake right before the car stops so passengers never feel a jolt. The Rogue Hybrid does this for you with Smooth Stop, a first in its class. Just press the brake pedal, hold it, and the system handles the rest.

If you have ever jostled a sleeping kid awake in the school pickup line, you will appreciate this one. Johnson also points out that it is “great for new drivers,” which makes it a nice bonus for families with a teen learning to drive.

In addition, class-exclusive e-Pedal allows true one-pedal driving in certain conditions. Lift off the accelerator, and the Rogue Hybrid slows down on its own, which takes some of the sting out of stop-and-go traffic.

A More Human ProPILOT Assist

Every Rogue Hybrid gets the latest ProPILOT Assist, which helps with steering and keeps pace with traffic while your hands stay on the wheel. Engineers spent countless hours on real roads in California tuning it to behave more like a human driver. Thanks to a front camera with a 20% wider field of view, it can detect objects up to 33% farther away, which Nissan says lets it respond up to two seconds sooner at 70 MPH.

Step up to ProPILOT Assist with Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support, available on the SR and standard on Platinum, and you get two more tricks:

  • Hands-off driving in traffic below 30 MPH
  • Automatic lane changes on the highway with a tap of the turn signal, hands on the wheel

Just remember that these are driver assistance features, not self-driving tech, so you are still in charge. Elsewhere, the standard tech list is generous:

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Standard Qi2 wireless phone charger, a class exclusive
  • Intelligent Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian, Cyclist and Intersection Assist
  • Blind Spot Warning and Intervention plus Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Rear Door Alert

Our Take on the Rogue Hybrid

I like that Nissan did not simply bolt a battery onto the old Rogue. An all-electric drivetrain you never plug in, standard AWD, and features like Smooth Stop give it a personality that stands apart in a crowded segment. On paper, it still trails the 41 MPG combined rating of the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid we tested, but the Rogue answers with standard dual-motor AWD and a very different driving feel.

My one hesitation is timing. Budget shoppers will have to wait until January for the $35,490 SV, since the first models on lots are the $41,490 SR Technology Package versions. Even so, I cannot wait to see how quiet this cabin really is on the brick streets of downtown Tyler.
