The 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross is mostly a carryover, but there is one change worth knowing about before you shop. Toyota trimmed the hybrid lineup from three grades to two, dropping the entry-level S grade. As a result, the Corolla Cross Hybrid now starts with the SE.

Pricing starts at $25,535 for the gas-powered L and $31,415 for the Hybrid SE, excluding dealer processing and handling fees. The 2027 models are built in Huntsville, Alabama, and are expected to reach dealers this fall.

What’s New for the 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross

Beyond the hybrid lineup shakeup, the 2027 Corolla Cross carries over from 2026. Gas buyers still choose from the L, LE, and XLE grades, each offered with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Hybrid buyers now choose between the SE and XSE, and both come standard with electronic on-demand AWD.

Losing the S grade means the least expensive Corolla Cross Hybrid is now the $31,415 SE. That is a noticeable jump from the $25,535 gas L. Budget-minded families will want to weigh the fuel savings against the higher starting price.

Gas or Hybrid: Picking the Right Powertrain

Gas models use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower. With FWD, Toyota estimates 30 MPG city, 32 MPG highway, and 31 MPG combined. Choosing AWD drops those numbers slightly to 29/31/30 MPG. In addition, the gas model’s Dynamic Torque Control AWD can send up to 50% of its power to the rear wheels.

The hybrid is the efficiency pick. Its fifth-generation hybrid system makes 196 total system horsepower. Both the SE and XSE earn an estimated 46 MPG city, 39 MPG highway, and 42 MPG combined. The hybrid can also tow up to 1,500 pounds, enough for a small utility trailer. For a closer look at how it drives, check out our first drive in the Corolla Cross Hybrid.

The base L comes with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. It also has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED headlights and taillights, and 17-inch steel wheels.

Stepping up to the LE adds Qi wireless charging, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and push-button start. It also gets roof rails and 17-inch silver alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the top XLE gets a 10.5-inch touchscreen, 18-inch alloy wheels, and heated SofTex-trimmed front seats. Other XLE upgrades include a 10-way power driver’s seat, fog lights, front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, and a cargo cover.

The Hybrid SE has a sportier look with 17-inch machined alloy wheels, black roof rails, and rear privacy glass. Inside, it gets a leather-trimmed steering wheel with paddle shifters. It also includes an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and Blind Spot Monitor.

For more features, the Hybrid XSE adds a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.5-inch touchscreen. It also rides on 18-inch black alloy wheels. Inside, you get SofTex mixed-media seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and a cargo cover.

Safety, Packages, and Colors

Every 2027 Corolla Cross comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The suite includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and full-speed range adaptive cruise control. It also adds Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. Safe Exit Alert is available on every grade except the L. It warns passengers before they open a door into traffic.

Several packages let you add features without jumping grades. For example, a Cold-Weather Package adds a heated steering wheel and heated front seats to the LE AWD and SE. Other options include a 10.5-inch touchscreen upgrade, a moonroof, a power liftgate, and JBL premium audio on the XLE and XSE.

Color choices include Celestite, Jet Black, Wind Chill Pearl, Soul Red Crystal, Cavalry Blue, Sonic Silver, and Cypress. Four colors are also available with a Jet Black roof.

How the Corolla Cross Fits in the Toyota SUV Lineup

The Corolla Cross slots between the smaller all-electric C-HR and the larger RAV4. Outside of Toyota, it competes with the Honda HR-V. Honda is reportedly considering an HR-V hybrid. The Kia Niro is another rival, and we broke it down in our 2027 Niro pricing guide.

With the S grade gone, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is a little pricier to get into for 2027. Still, a 42 MPG combined rating, standard AWD, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 make it a strong pick for families who want a small SUV that is easy on fuel.
