2027 Nissan Altima Starts at $27,790, but AWD Is Now SR Only

Nissan’s midsize sedan is back for another lap. The 2027 Nissan Altima is on sale now with a starting price of $27,790 for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) SV, a modest $210 bump over last year. The bigger change is where you can get all-wheel drive (AWD). For 2027, Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is only offered on the sporty SR, so shoppers who want AWD now start at $30,690.
2027 Nissan Altima Pricing by Trim

Once again, the lineup stays simple with two trims and three configurations. Every price below excludes the $1,275 destination and handling charge, which carries over from 2026 pricing.
| Trim | 2027 MSRP | With Destination | 2026 MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| SV FWD | $27,790 | $29,065 | $27,580 |
| SV AWD | Not offered | Not offered | $28,980 |
| SR FWD | $29,190 | $30,465 | $29,080 |
| SR AWD | $30,690 | $31,965 | $30,480 |
As a result, year-over-year increases land between $110 and $210. That’s about as gentle as price hikes get right now, especially for a sedan with this much standard safety equipment.
AWD Is Now an SR Exclusive

Last year, buyers could add AWD to the SV for $1,400. However, that option is gone for 2027. If you live somewhere with real winters, you’ll now need to step up to the SR AWD, which costs $1,710 more than the old SV AWD.
On the bright side, the SR adds plenty for the money. It comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, gloss black exterior trim, carbon fiber center console trim, sports exhaust finishers, and standard paddle shifters. Nissan’s Active Ride Control and Intelligent Trace Control are standard, too. Meanwhile, FWD models get a sport-tuned suspension.
Same 2.5L Engine and a Long List of Standard Tech

Under the hood, nothing changes. Every 2027 Altima uses a 2.5-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine. As before, it makes 188 horsepower in FWD models and 182 horsepower with AWD. Nissan hasn’t released 2027 torque figures, but the 2026 Altima made 180 lb-ft in FWD form and 178 lb-ft with AWD. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) remains the only gearbox.
Meanwhile, fuel economy is solid for a gas-only sedan. FWD versions are rated at up to 26 MPG city, 36 MPG highway, and 30 MPG combined. AWD models are rated at up to 25 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. Nissan still doesn’t offer a hybrid Altima, although the brand is getting serious the hybrid game with the 2027 Rogue Hybrid later this year.
Every 2027 Altima also comes with Nissan Safety Shield 360. That includes Blind Spot Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, High Beam Assist, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, a class exclusive. ProPILOT Assist is available for drivers who spend a lot of time on the highway.
Inside, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, along with heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and both USB-A and USB-C ports. The SV uses an 8-inch touchscreen, and wireless phone charging is available. Nissan’s class-exclusive Zero Gravity seats are a nice touch on long road trips.
Remote engine start is also standard on every trim. That’s a big deal during a Texas summer, when you want the A/C running before the kids climb in. The trunk holds 15.4 cubic feet of cargo, and the 60/40 split-folding rear seats help with longer items like sports gear.
How the 2027 Altima Stacks Up Against the Camry

The Altima’s biggest rival, the 2027 Toyota Camry, starts at $29,700 before destination and is now hybrid-only with up to 51 MPG combined. That gives the Altima a $1,910 head start on price, but the Camry wins easily at the pump.
The Altima also arrives with some momentum behind the brand, as Nissan’s third-quarter retail sales climbed 6.8%. The sedan isn’t trying to reinvent the midsize segment. Instead, it’s an affordable, comfortable commuter with a long list of standard safety features. Losing SV AWD will sting for some shoppers, but the SR remains a strong value at under $31k. The 2027 Altima is on sale now at Nissan dealers.
