Stellantis Q3 Sales Hold Steady as Ram Outsells Jeep and the 1500 Soars 73%

Ram just had the kind of quarter Jeep used to have. Stellantis sold 324,277 vehicles in the U.S. during the third quarter, nearly matching the 324,825 it sold a year ago, and Ram passed Jeep to become the company’s best-selling brand for the quarter.
As expected, pickups did most of the heavy lifting. Ram brand sales jumped 29%, while Jeep fell 20%, and gains from the Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Durango helped Stellantis hold steady. As a result, the company is still up 3% for the year through nine months.
Ram Outsells Jeep as the 1500 Jumps 73%

In total, Ram sold 134,072 vehicles in the third quarter, up from 103,717 a year ago, putting it 5,530 units ahead of Jeep. Light-duty pickup sales, which include the 1500, climbed 73% to 76,650 trucks, and Ram 1500 retail sales rose 42%.
In fact, our time in the 2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X showed why buyers are coming back. In addition, the 1500 ranked first among large light-duty pickups in the J.D. Power 2026 U.S. APEAL study.
On the other hand, heavy-duty pickups slipped 6% to 41,107. Even so, total Ram pickup sales rose 34% to 117,757, and the ProMaster van added 16,314 sales, up 4%.
Jeep Sales Slide 20%

Jeep sold 128,542 vehicles, down 20% from 160,564. Specifically, the Compass fell 62% to 10,811 units, while the Grand Cherokee dropped 30% to 38,027. Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer sales also fell 30% to 12,495, although Grand Wagoneer retail sales rose 14%.
Still, there were bright spots. The Wrangler remained Jeep’s best seller with 44,757 sales, up 5%. Meanwhile, the recently revived Cherokee hybrid posted 10,344 sales after barely registering a year ago. Its retail sales rose 53% compared with the second quarter, and September was its best retail month yet. However, the Gladiator slipped 9% to 11,911.
Pacifica and Durango Post Gains

Chrysler sales rose 6% to 34,494, and all but three of them were Pacificas. Stellantis did not identify which models made up those other three sales, but the takeaway is clear: Chrysler is the Pacifica brand right now. That certainly matches what we found on our 3,000-mile road trip in the 2027 Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD, which remains one of the best family haulers on the market.
Over at Dodge, sales rose 2% to 26,546. Once again, the Durango led the way, climbing 14% to 22,755 for its best third quarter since 2005, and its retail sales jumped 18%.
Michael Orange, head of U.S. retail sales and network performance at Stellantis, credited a “motivated dealer network, which continued to drive our retail business.” For families, that retail growth shows up in the vehicles they actually buy: the Ram 1500, Durango, Grand Wagoneer, and Pacifica all posted retail gains.
Year-to-Date Sales Still Up 3%

Through the first nine months of 2026, Stellantis has sold 958,463 vehicles, up 3% from 928,023 at this point last year. Ram is up 20% to 369,379, and Chrysler is up 12% to 101,627.
Even so, Jeep still leads year to date with 413,793 sales, although that is down 8%. The Grand Cherokee and Wrangler have each topped 130,000 sales so far this year, while Dodge is down 3% to 71,057 overall.
EV Sales Fade as Gas Chargers Take Over

Stellantis EVs moved in the opposite direction. The electric Wagoneer S managed just 146 sales, down from 4,163, and the electric Charger fell to 233 from 2,776. On the other hand, gas-powered Charger sales jumped to 3,446 from 238, and Charger retail sales rose 22% overall.
Similarly, the smaller brands struggled. FIAT sold just 54 vehicles, 52 of them the 500e, although the tiny Topolino reached select U.S. dealerships during the quarter and is not counted in those totals. Likewise, Alfa Romeo fell 65% to 569, and the Hornet dropped to 85 sales.
Much like Ford and GM, which both saw third-quarter sales dip as they trimmed slower-selling models, Stellantis is leaning on trucks, gas engines, and hybrids.

What Comes Next for Stellantis

Stellantis carries plenty of momentum into the final quarter. Orders opened for the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee with its 5.7-liter Hemi V8, and the initial allocation for the 2026 calendar year sold out in 90 minutes. Rumble Bee trucks arrive at dealerships in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Dodge revealed the 2027 Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, and the 2027 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio debut Oct. 12 at the Paris Motor Show. With Ram rolling and the Jeep Cherokee hybrid gaining ground, Stellantis looks well positioned to finish 2026 ahead of last year.
